E Scapes
Soundscape is an expression of Ars Acustica - radio art - that has been successfully developed for decades at many different EBU radio organizations. It explores our sound environment and uses the sounds of cities, valleys, forests, birds and landscapes in order to create an acoustic art form that depicts nature and everyday
life in new ways of expression. As part of the Euroradio Concert Season, the series e-scape is aimed at further developing the art form of soundscape by exploring new digital and interactive techniques by young creators of radio art and sound art.

Description of concept:
'e-scape' is an initiative of the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) Ars Acustica Group, chaired by Erik-Mikael Karlsson from Sweden. The aim is to give renewed impetus to sound art, a genre for which radio is the ideal medium. Indeed, many European radio broadcasters have been pioneers in this area. The concept behind 'e-scape' is to revisit the sound environment of our cities, countrysides and homes in a
modern context, allowing young radio and sound artists to take full advantage of the latest digital and interactive technology in order to portray our everyday reality through completely new forms of expression. It is intended to develop 'e-scape' as a series of pan-European radio events supported by the EBU, which will make available its satellite network. At the initiative of André Defossez (Musiq3, RTBF), 'e-scape' was
launched in Brussels at the 2007 Festival Radiophonic. The second event in the series was a broadcast from Vienna by ORF in 2008. For the 2008-2009 Season, a series of six concerts has been scheduled.
